The Role


The Solution Architect is responsible for designing and guiding technology solutions that align organisational needs with the technology strategy. The role works across initiatives to analyse requirements, assess options, and develop architectural and technical designs that enable successful delivery of fit for purpose solutions.


A core aspect of the role is close, direct engagement with operational and functional teams across the organisation. The Solution Architect works alongside stakeholders to understand their needs, challenges, and ways of working, translating these insights into practical solutions that support real world outcomes.


As a key member of the technology team, the Solution Architect provides architectural guidance that balances business objectives, technical integrity, and long term sustainability. The role ensures solutions are aligned with enterprise standards and principles while remaining grounded in how the organisation operates day to day.Success in this role requires someone who enjoys being out in the business—sitting with teams, understanding their challenges, and shaping technology solutions alongside them.


This is a permanent full time role based at our Perth office, with one day per week in Kwinana and occasional travel to our Mt Holland site.

 

Key Responsibilities 
•    Develop and document fit for purpose solution and technical designs
•    Contribute architecture artifacts to the to the Enterprise Architecture repository
•    Own and manage the Enterprise Architecture repository
•    Develop and execute architecture practices such as architecture reviews
•    Develop and communicate enterprise and solution architectures
•    Assist Technology leadership with the development of technology architecture roadmaps
•    Develop architecture patterns, standards and guidelines

•    Requirements gathering and analysis, with the ability to identify, define, and evaluate business needs to inform the selection, configuration, or enhancement of software and services.
•    Enterprise Alignment and architecture, with the ability to translate business strategy into operating models and architectural frameworks that guide enterprise transformation.
•    Solution design, with the ability to develop and communicate multi-dimensional solution architectures and system designs that meet specified business and technical requirements.
•    Technology evaluation and integration, with the ability to assess emerging technologies and integrate them into enterprise environments to deliver business value and maintain architectural integrity
•    Governance and Standards, with the ability to define, apply and uphold architectural governance frameworks and technology standards that ensure consistency, compliance and quality across solution delivery.
•    Implementation planning and transition, with the ability to guide the deployment of designed solutions into operational environments, ensuring readiness, alignment and successful realisation.
•    Stakeholder Engagement, with the ability to systematically analyse, manage and influence stakeholder relationships to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes through structured engagement.

 

Role requirements
•    Bachelor and/or master’s degree in computer science, Information Management, Information Technology or Engineering, or equivalent experience
•    TOGAF or ArchiMate 3.1
•    ISC2 Certifications
•    Minimum 5 years’ experience creating solutions architecture encompassing business, information, application, and technology architectures.
•    Minimum 15 years’ experience delivering technology solutions as part of projects
•    Ideally minimum 2 years’ experience delivering solutions within Mining and Processing sectors
•    Experience with ITIL processes
•    Experience with analysing data and creating information models both logical and physical
•    Experience with data integration concepts, use and implementations
•    Experience in gathering functional, non-functional and technical requirements for business and technical needs
