The Role
This role will have a primary focus on providing all Covalent employees an efficient, accurate and timely payroll service whilst ensuring legislative compliance is maintained.
In between monthly payroll cycles, and legislative payroll payments for Superannuation, PAYG, Payroll Tax ect this role will also provide generalist support to the human resources team, including, employee changes, remuneration and incentives, rewards and recognition, employee satisfaction and offboarding. This role will contribute to change processes that result in Payroll changes and contribute to continuous improvements and capability development within the payroll system.
This is a permanent, full time role based at our Kwinana Refinery
Key Responsibilities
• Communicate payroll requirements and deadlines clearly and effectively to the Management Team and all Covalent employees to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll.
• Prepare and conduct monthly payroll and ad-hoc payments for all Covalent employees, ensuring all new starters, employee changes, variable payroll data, leave taken and terminations have been captured in the relevant pay period in a timely and accurate manner.
• Check and verify pre-payroll reporting, perform monthly payroll reconciliations, obtain relevant approvals prior to payroll processing and coordinate bank file transmissions.
• Prepare and distribute post payroll reporting to the relevant stakeholders.
• Lodge monthly payroll tax, superannuation and other third-party lodgements, prepare remittance advices.
• Communicate payroll setup and information on first payments with new starters.
• Ensure final payments are processed accurately, final documents are provided and communications with terminated employees are closed out.
• Support Finance in the completion of the FBT return by providing relevant payroll information.
• Conduct end of financial year payroll requirements and associated reporting.
• Provide a professional customer service to all Covalent employees with accurate and timely advice on payroll related queries.
• Maintain the payroll inbox and ensure consistent management of payroll and personnel records.
• Ensure all legal and statutory obligations are met by conducting relevant audits affecting the payroll and HR processes, including the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards, Payroll Tax, Superannuation and other third-party payments.
• Participate in and provide requested information during internal and external auditing processes.
• Provide timely and accurate delivery of reports and other related information to stakeholders.
• Maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders involved in the payroll process, including external payroll providers and/or advisory services, employees and reporting managers.
• Maintain Payroll documents such as procedures, ensuring they remain current and compliant with legislative requirements.
• Participate in business change management activities and prepare content for employee communications.
• Other ad-hoc payroll related activities as required.
Role Requirements
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Payroll processing within the resources sector, particularly within the mining and metals industry is desirable.
• Previous experience in operating payroll system, particularly SuccessFactors and/or ADP is preferred.
• Good understanding of the Fair Work Act, the National Employment Standards, National Awards, PAYG Tax and WA Payroll Tax, Single Touch Payroll, Superannuation and associated legislative compliance requirements.
• Strong skills in MS Office packages, particularly in Excel.
• Completion of Secondary Education
• Valid Driver’s Licence
• Completion of any previous payroll related training courses would be advantageous
