The Role

 

The Mine Development Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and productive supervision of mine development activities in the mine operations area. This role leads crews during mine development activities which entails overseeing tailing storage facility construction, topsoil removal, waste haulage and water management.in alignment with the mine plan and site production targets.
The Mine Development Supervisor operates as the primary point of accountability for crew safety, equipment performance, and mine development during their shift. The role requires strong technical knowledge of mine development activities, demonstrated safety leadership, and the ability to engage and motivate crews to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes.
With future expansion of the Mt Holland mine underway, this role is critical to the planning, readiness and implementation of the next phase of the mine.

 

This is a full-time, permanent position, on a 8/6 roster, ex FIFO from Perth to our Mt Holland Mine Site

 

Key Responsibilities

 

•    Lead and supervise a multiskilled crew, fostering a high-performance team culture.
•    Build and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, trades, and Covalent stakeholders through a collaborative approach.
•    Drive delivery of the plan by tracking daily progress against time, cost, and quality benchmarks.
Timely communicate risk and constraints to planned activities.
•    Coordinate and submit permits in a timely and accurate manner to ensure compliance and continuity 
•    Champion a proactive safety culture by ensuring hazards are identified, risks assessed, and appropriate control measures are developed and implemented in collaboration with relevant contractors.
•    Review contractor plans and daily work schedules to ensure alignment with project objectives and site priorities.
•    Monitor activities for compliance with engineering drawings, design specifications, Covalent standards, and applicable statutory regulations.
•    Serve as a key liaison with service providers and internal stakeholders on technical matters, specifications, and scope variations.
•    Coordinate with the Maintenance department to schedule planned maintenance activities, minimise equipment downtime, and ensure timely return of assets to service.
•    Track and report on contractor performance daily, providing timely and accurate updates to the wider project team.
•    Identify contract variations, support scope change assessments, and participate in related negotiations.
•    Facilitate engaging and informative Pre-Start and Toolbox meetings, ensuring key safety and operational messages are clearly communicated and understood.
•    Prepare and deliver comprehensive shift handover reports to maintain continuity across the operation.
•    Continuously review construction methodologies to identify safer practices and improvements to build efficiency.
•    Maintain a well-organised worksite with safe and adequate access for plant, vehicles, and personnel at all times.
•    Support the broader Covalent Lithium management team by undertaking additional duties as required.
•    Assist in developing commercial scopes and developing contracts.
•    Ensure compliance with budget and expenditure protocols and procedures

 

Role Requirements

 

•    Minimum 5 years’ experience in surface mining operations with (overseeing civil projects highly regarded)
•    Minimum 3 years of supervisory or leading hand experience 
•    Mine Supervisor Certificate of Competency / S26
•    Demonstrated understanding of and compliance with Western Australian mining legislation, including the Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994 (WA) and Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA).
•    Track record of delivering development advance targets safely and within scheduled timeframes.
•    Demonstrated bulk and detailed earthworks experience which includes design interpretation, implementation and quality control
•    Working knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies and tools (e.g. Apollo, FMEA, 5 Why’s).
•    Demonstrated success managing teams and driving high performance cultures through effective leadership and feedback.
•     Demonstrated problem solving capability delivering measurable operational and cost improvements.
•    Highly adaptable, flexible and effective in dynamic operating environments.
•    Experience conducting incident investigations.
•    Qualifications frontline management or equivalent leadership training (desirable) 
•    Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (desirable) 
•    Valid Manual Driver’s License 
•    Current First Aid Certificate
•    MS Office Suite Computer Literacy
