The Role
The Pit Technician is responsible for ensuring that operations grade control, data collection, and geology field support work are conducted in a safe, timely, efficient and quality manner.
This is a full time, permanent position, ex FIFO from Perth to our Mt Holland mine site, on an 8 on / 6 off / 7 on / 7 off roster.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct ore spotting (day and night shift).
• Inspect mine face positions during ore spotting and record information on dig maps.
• Instruct operations teams of ore source and destination requirements.
• Liaise with production personnel to ensure optimal ore mining techniques are utilized.
• Liaise with production to ensure mining hygiene including selective mining of ore, water cart and lighting plant provision, and floor height checks.
• Accurately record operations data (ore source and destination).
• Reconcile ore and waste truck tallies and record in Database.
• Conduct ROM and stockpile inspections.
• Assist Mine Geologists with ore block mark outs.
• Assist Mine Geologists with within pit mapping and sampling tasks.
• Maintain geology and grade control consumables levels to the required quantities.
• Maintain the core yard and storage facilities in good working order.
• Ensure that geology tools and equipment is used and handed over to the required standards.
• Actively participate and contribute to Covalent Lithium’s health and safety culture.
• Ensure effective working relationships are built and maintained with other departments and stakeholders, both internal and external.
Role Requirements
• Experienced in working in an open cut mine environment (+3 years).
• Experience with grade control processes in a mine operating environment.
• Current Drivers Licence, incl. ability to operate a manual vehicle.
• Operating experience of mining equipment (desirable).
• Awareness of geological practices in a mining environment.
• Awareness of health, safety, and environmental regulations in the mining industry.
• High School Diploma or Certificate.
