The Role

The Electrical & Instrumentation Technician will be part of the team reporting to the Electrical &Instrumentation Supervisor. The objective of this role is to execute required maintenance activities (planned & unplanned) within Covalent Lithium’s health, safety, environmental, HR, and asset management policies. The primary workplace will be Covalent Kwinana Refinery. The E/I Technician will be working a 12hr - 6 Day On / 6 Day Off Roster and will provide support in maintaining NPI and Refinery assets.

We have one permanent opportunity & one 12-month opportunity, both on a 6:6 roster, based at our Kwinana Refinery 

Key Responsibilities 

•    Participate in the execution of the Fixed Plant Maintenance
•    Participate in the development of maintenance plans and activities, tactics, and safe work instructions.
•    Liaise with OEM’s during installation of fixed plant equipment when required
•    Provide maintenance support to other departments as required.
•    At all times act within Covalent safety, environmental and statutory standards
•    Execute planned and breakdown maintenance to maximise reliability and maintainability of fixed plant assets.
•    Be part of the working roster 
•    Fault finding instrumentation loops and electrical equipment in a safe and efficient manner to ensure maximum reliability and uptime can be achieved.
•    Support the planning process and the execution of planned and breakdown maintenance to maximise reliability and maintainability of fixed plant assets.
•    Meet set working targets for daily work activities and execute safely and efficiently.
•    Consulting with stakeholders during maintenance and breakdowns to ensure minimal disruption to plant operating times.
•    Identify Continuous improvement opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.
•    Maintain equipment to the highest standard to ensure Covalent Kwinana Refinery meets required production targets. 
•    Review and update standard work instructions and procedures accordingly.
•    Flexibility towards breakdowns and turn arounds.
•    Participate in the development, coaching and mentoring of trainee / apprentice personnel.
•    Provide advice to identify maintenance requirements and improvements to address production outages caused by equipment failures
•    Validate plant maintenance routines and procedures and suggest changes to the systems if required.
•    Ensure guidelines, standing instructions and procedures are understood and adhered to
•    Active participation in the establishment of a health and safety culture. 
•    Undertake all work in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with statutory requirements and Covalent policies & procedures.
•    Ensure effective working relationships are built and maintained with the supervisor, team members and other departments and stakeholders, both internal and external 

Role Requirements 

•    Fixed Plant Maintenance and Shutdown Maintenance 
•    WA Unrestricted Electrical Licence 
•    Certificate III in Electrical Engineering
•    Certificate IV Instrumentation or equivalent competency
•    Certificate in Hazardous Areas - Preferred
•    A current WA driver’s license
•    Current EWP, Working at Heights & Confined Space tickets preferred
•    HV Switching Certification - preferred
•    Experience with Control valves and diagnostic tools
•    PLC – Siemens and Emmerson Delta V (Preferred) 
•    Have initiative, flexibility, and the ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment.
