The Role


This role is responsible for the procurement, expediting and contract management of equipment and materials in a timely and cost-effective manner and in accordance with company policy.


This is a full-time 12-month fixed term contract based at our Perth Office.

 

 

Key Responsibilities 
•    Conducting and coordinating commercial and legal negotiations with contractors including ownership and administration of clarifications and departures during contractual negotiations.
•    Preparing recommendation documents for Covalent board approvals setting out a clear, well-supported business case for the award of key contracts
•    Administering all contractual aspects of contracts, assessing including reviewing and assessing contractor monthly progress claims, variations, delay, disruption or extension of time claims and advising project managers and package owners accordingly.
•    Contract Management activities; formation, execution, drafting, tender evaluation, clarifications, negotiation, execution, variations, extensions, governance during the contract lifecycle of all contracts.
•    Review scopes of work and contract conditions as part of preparing high-quality tender packages and contract documents for issue to market as part of IPT tender process.
•    Be the point of contact for internal stakeholders on Contract matters.
•    Liaise with the Covalent legal team to ensure appropriate terms and conditions and commercial outcomes are achieved on all contracts.5.2
•    Liaise and co-ordinate with Covalent finance team to ensure finance requirements and risks are in place within Contracts and escalated where required.5.2
•    Develop and implement contract governance frameworks for all contracts ensuring each contract is managed to Covalent requirements.
•    Identify and manage all Contract deliverables, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), risks, and ongoing metrics as defined in Contracts.
•    Ensure the provision of education to and engagement of all internal stakeholders about contract execution methodology and system best practice.
•    Implement and successfully manage the pre-tender process for the evaluation by all internal stakeholders for all significant Tender or Request for Tender submissions, in line with the Delegation of Authority (DOA) policy.
•    Ensure Contract registers are always actively managed and kept up to date.


Role Requirements
•    Bachelor’s degree in commerce, supply chain or engineering is preferred
•    Valid driver’s licence
•    CIPS Qualification (highly regarded)
•    Minimum 7 years’ experience in purchasing and supply chain, preferably within the mining and resources industry. 
•    Minimum of 5 years’ experience with major project contracting processes.
•    Experience in using legally established professional and transparent procurement policies and procedures in accordance with Australian legislation and regulations.
•    International experience, particularly in multi-national and international organisations (desirable).
•    Experience in category management, procurement and purchasing contracts.
•    Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills, coupled with a high level of professional judgement and discretion.
•    Demonstrated tender and contract negotiation skills.
