The Role
The Security & Gatehouse Support Officer role is to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations across Refinery activities. You will prioritise the Security, Access control, and Weigh bridge functions, whilst supporting Waste Management, and Supply Chain functions at the Kwinana Refinery.
The role provides governance of Security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs),supports critical Gatehouse, access control, weighbridge and Emergency Services activities. Delivers targeted training programs, manages SAP S/4HANA procurement and inventory management
This position reduces operational risk, strengthens compliance, and enhances day-to-day site operations.
This is a Permanent Full-time position based at our Kwinana Refinery.
Key Responsibilities
Security Operations & Training
- Support Superintendent Emergency Services & Security in developing, reviewing and governing security SOPs and ensure alignment with legislation, company policy, and industry standards.
- Deliver training programs to enhance Security Officer capability, compliance, and operational readiness (encapsulates all elements of access control, weighbridge & CCTV)
- Monitor adherence to all security protocols, access control requirements, and site policies.
- Provides support to Emergency Services & Security (ESS) as directed.
- Provide professional support to Gatehouse operations, ensuring safe, compliant, and controlled entry/exit processing for all personnel, contractors, and visitors.
Weighbridge
- Review deliveries and despatch records, to confirm recording accuracy
- Consolidate inbound / outbound weighbridge activities daily
- Accurate monthly reporting to snr mngt
- Update weighbridge operational data
- Liaise with external suppliers for fault finding and system updates
SAP S/4HANA (Ordering / Purchasing / Supply Chain Management)
- Create and manage Purchase Requisitions (PRs), Receipting of goods, approvals, vendor liaison, quantity validation, and lifecycle tracking.
- Support inventory-related transactions for related materials and services to record purchasing / receipt and stock management.
Forklift Operations
- Conduct ad-hoc forklift operations to support logistics, emergency response readiness, and material handling tasks in line with work scope.
- Ensure all forklift activities meet Covalent Lithium safety and operational standards.
Waste Management
- Assist in coordinating waste disposal activities to ensure compliance with site and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with external waste service providers for safe and compliant waste handling, in line with existing contracts.
Stake holder management
- Liaise with vendors, stakeholders to effectively manage Cov systems, to effectively manage their expectations, minimize conflict, and build support for successful outcomes
Mobilisation to site
- Assist with onboarding of new staff and contractors, thru our mobilisation system
- Document applicants competencies, licences etc, and prepare site access cards
Role Requirements
- Proven experience with access control systems (Gallagher), weighbridge operations (Metler Toledo), and CCTV platforms (Milestone).
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a customer-focused security role within a refining, processing, resources, or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgement and situational awareness.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills, with the capability to engage effectively with personnel at all organisational levels.
- SAP MM Certification – Desirable / Ability to learn
- AOD Testing Competency – Within probation period
- Forklift Licence (FL) - Within probation period
- Strong understanding of occupational health and safety legislation and its application within high-risk industrial or mining environments desirable.
