The Role


This role will support the health of employees and contractors through the delivery of professional health and medical services, health promotion, proactive injury management, monitoring of occupational health functions and the delivery of expert advice and assistance on health and medical matters. You will also be required to respond promptly to medical emergencies.


This a permanent fulltime position based at our Kwinana Refinery, Monday to Friday.

 

Key Responsibilities 


•    Assist in managing the sites processes in relation to medical emergencies through regular review and updating of emergency procedures and response systems.
•    Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, facilitation and evaluation of the delivery of site based medical services.
•    Maintain medical services / equipment, including supplies, replacements and rotation.
•    Demonstrates critical care expertise, providing rapid assessment and emergency treatment and experience in an acute clinical setting
•    Manage injuries with appropriate treatment and administer medication within scope of practice and in accordance with relevant site procedures.
•    Conducting pre-employment medical assessments and alcohol and other drug testing.
•    Maintain legible, accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation, maintaining confidentiality and secure medical records management.
•    Coordinating patient referrals and liaising with other healthcare providers
•    Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when required
•    Assist with the interpretation of legislation, government standards and agreements.
•    Provide input/informed commentary, improvement opportunities on areas of risk to Health team as required.
•    Coordinate & participate with the Emergency Response Team (ERT) in exercises and incidents 
•    Provide relevant medical training to members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) when required.
•    Conduct health and hygiene surveillance monitoring.
•    Maintain poisons permit compliance 
•    Lead clinical governance and quality assurance initiatives
•    Assist OHS Managers with analysis and interpretation of health data
•    Contribute to monitoring and reporting on injury frequency rates.
•    Contribute to the development and implementation of return-to-work plans in consultation with the injured employees, their supervisor and treating doctor, with support from Injury management Coordinator
•    Assist with training and HSE activities as required.

 

Role Requirements


•    Registered Nurse with current unrestricted AHPRA registration 
•    Current Advanced Life Support Certificate
•    Cannulation competent- desirable
•    Authorised Nurse Immuniser - desirable
•    Collection of Specimens for Drugs of Abuse Testing (HLTPAT005) (Essential– Obtain within probation period)
•    Certificate in Measure Spirometry HLTHPS004 (desirable - Obtain within probation period)
•    Qualified Audiometric Officer (desirable - Obtain within probation period)
•    Driver’s Licence (C-A) 
•    National Police clearance Certificate (issued within last 12 months)
•    A minimum of 3 years' experience working as a Registered Nurse /Occupational Health Nurse in the mining, chemical or oil/gas industries. 
•    Experience in emergency management, burns management.
•    Experience with reagent burns management, Morgan Lense 
•    Knowledge and understanding of occupational health and safety legislation and how these impact on mine site environments and safety services.
•    Understanding of Workers Compensation and Injury Management Rehabilitation Legislation and injury management.
•    An ability to work independently.
•    Demonstrated effective organisational and time management skills.
•    Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make sound decisions
